Finding the Beauty in the Everyday

Hello, readers!
The east coast of America is in the grip of a deep freeze. Following the insane nor’easter from the past two days, temperatures are low, low, low. In fact, in my new (old) city of Washington, D.C. it is a chilly 12°F/-11°C right now. Brrrr!

If you follow my blog, you know that I just moved back east from the desert Southwest, after almost two decades. Needless to say, this is a big change for me. Snow, cold wind, and single digit temperatures are quite the shock even though I grew up in the northeast U.S. I thought I might regret my decisions since I am not a huge fan of winter, but no. In fact, I am enjoying waking each morning to rediscover something new about winter. To that end, I was delighted to find Nature decorated my windows this morning.

What a lovely gift to get first thing this morning. I sat at my desk with a big mug of hot coffee and watched the sun melt away this temporary art. Getting the most out of life, indeed.

In other news, setting up my new place is rolling along. Still have some boxes to unpack, art and photos to hang, and rugs to unroll. The dog is settling in beautifully, better than expected. His coat and boots are on the way, so he will be able to brave the elements in the coming weeks.

Personally, 2018 is off to a grand start. I wish I could say the same about my country, but let’s keep our thoughts positive. Enjoy the weekend and thanks for stopping by!
