Spotlight On: GrabbaGreen

Happy Monday, dear readers! I hope your weekend was amazing and beautiful. Mine definitely was, despite the heat. Travel plans for late 2017 have been made, I start working with a great client today, and I discovered a delicious fast (ish) food place this weekend.

I know….I JUST posted my review of Stanford’s late last week, but my recent find is SO amazing, I couldn’t wait to write it up! GrabbaGreen! This is a nationwide franchise with 22 current locations and more opening soon. It seems I am lucky enough to have several in my general location and one within 15 minutes. This thrills me to no end because after being on the road for a week or more, the last thing I want to do is cook when I get home. I want to sleep, play with the dog, and have someone else make me food – healthy food. I finally get my wish!

GrabbaGreen started in 2013 by two women who found it difficult to find healthy fast food (amen, sisters!). This has always been my issue, living in the suburbs, as I do.  When I travel I am usually able to locate vegan places in larger cities, both in the US and abroad. But at home my choices are limited to a sandwich shop (my usual choice for decent healthy options), burger joints, or pizza. Not anymore!

GrabbaGreen offers a variety of bowls (centered on grains like quinoa and brown rice), salads, juices, and smoothies. What I like the best is they also offer a ‘Grab Your Own’ option where you can make your own bowl or salad. Grab a grain, pick a protein, choose a super nutrient, select a sauce, and voila, custom dinner! For my inaugural bowl I chose brown rice, black beans, avocado, beet, edamame, yam, and carrot with feta cheese crumbles and sauced in the Mediterranean Pomergranate. It was a heavy hearty serving and completely delicious. It could have used more salt, but that is actually a plus for those of you watching your sodium intake.

If you want to ‘dine in’ there is ample seating.

In order to do – ahem – thorough research, I ordered a smoothie and two fresh pressed juices. SO GOOD! The Energy juice adds a zing to apple, pineapple, and coconut with mint making it perfect for a hot summer day. The Gingerly juice blends watermelon, pear, and lime with a healthy dose of fresh ginger – which is an overlooked ingredient at many juice places.  For my dessert smoothie, I chose the Pina Protein which was thick and delicious like a pineapple Julius on steroids.

A little pretty veg to get you in the clean eating mood!

Yes, I went overboard ordering. No, I don’t care. Yes, I ate/drank it all in one sitting. Yes, I had a tummy ache from eating too much. No, I still don’t care. 😆

GrabbaGreen offers breakfast wraps, cakes, sandwiches, and bowls so I will be sure to return for a taste of one or more of those. Beyond the food, the shop was clean, bright, and very very green. The kids behind the counter were very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. If you are near a GrabbaGreen and need to satisfy your vegan craving OR want to try something new, check it out. They do have meats (chicken, shrimp, salmon, and steak) so all you carnivores can get your fleshy fix, too.

What do you think? Have you tried GrabbaGreen? Let me know your experience in the comments and thanks for stopping by!
