Gearing up to do some travel planning (more on that soon), I poured myself a second cup the magic elixir known as coffee and prepared myself for some lightning bolts of inspiration. While I wait for those to strike, let’s celebrate the magic of coffee on this fine day.
I found a great infographic which comes from the minds at OnoCreates.com and was found on infographicspedia.com. Be sure to visit the website for Ono Creates as it is one of the prettiest sites I’ve seen. Almost like steampunk clockworks, their site moves and morphs as you scroll. I love it! Their work manages to be retro and modern at the same time and just by seeing what they come up with I know they must be intelligent and fun folks.
Without further adieu, onto the coffee facts! Did you know:
- Shepherds discovered coffee in Ethiopia circa 800 A.D? Apparently, they noticed that their goats “danced” after eating coffee berries. Then, a monk made a brew and we’ve been getting our caffeine-induced cha cha on ever since!
- Coffee is the second most traded commodity on earth? As per the folks over at the Global Exchange, about 25 million farmers in over 50 countries are involved in producing coffee. Pork bellies? Pass. Gimme coffee in the morning, coffee in the evening, coffee at supper time!
