About six months ago, I used a modified Shakespeare quote to lament a decision on whether or not I should get a Keurig coffee maker. Well, as “good luck would have it” a recent house guest sent me a Keurig as a thank you gift for hosting her. Okay, can I just point out that I used TWO Shakespeare quotes so far in this post!! The title comes to us from ‘As You Like It’ and the luck quote from ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’. What can I say? The Bard Abides (thank you, Lebowski)!
Now, back to my story. My friend came to stay for a short visit and between the scheduling of the trip and her arrival I had several unexpected business trips. This meant that the night she arrived from Detroit, I was getting back from Chicago! Our planes were 6 hours apart, so it didn’t make sense for her to wait at the airport. When I pulled up to my house there she was, sitting in her rental car playing on her phone. To make my hostess heart hurt a little bit more, the dogs sitters had JUST left and I had to turn the guest room around really quickly, change the bedding, clean the bathroom, and all that noise. All this kerfuffle occurred after 10pm after a VERY long day of meetings and air travel so I was about as ready to ‘visit’ as I was to chew broken glass and stick needles in my eyes. Nonetheless, we had a grand time over the 2 days she was here and I slept like a rock the day after she left.
Despite what I perceived to be half-assed hosting, she still favored me with the Keurig K475 model and I couldn’t be more in love with it if I tried!!! It came with 2 boxes of pods, which were great but now I use the little pod basket with my own (Guatemalan) coffee grounds. Every morning is made better with my Keurig coffee and surprisingly, I don’t feel guilty about putting my French press in the back of the cupboard!
So, all’s well that ends well, eh? I did it again! That’s more Shakespeare, people! <mic drop> 😎

The joy that is the Keurig K475
